What is the difference between Global Warming and Climate Change?

Falloutman asked:

Seriously, I have no idea. There are people who say Climate Change is not Global warming, and some say it is. Heck, on the list of topics for my group to choose to present, it had Global warming and climate change separate. Can someone clear this up for me? I need to know what I have to work with to discuss just Climate Change.

Hank M asked:

Methane is a potent greenhouse gas (GHG) thought to be abundant in the deep ocean and in permafrost. Compare the global warming potential of methane to other GHG’s. What are the potential feedback implications of global warming with respect to these methane sources?

Does global warming have anything to do with the wildfires in California?

June 23rd, 2012 | Posted in Reference & Education   Comments Off
Jack B asked:

It seems like there are more and more every year. Does this have anything to do with global warming? I live in an area of California that’s hilly and hear forests…I’m kind of getting scared now.

The drier a climate is, the more easily fires spread. The drier a climate is, the more likely lightning is to strike and cause a fire.

Why do conservatives ignore that Global Warming is occuring at an unnatural and unprecedented rate?

June 23rd, 2012 | Posted in Reference & Education   Comments Off
Filip asked:

Conservatives point out - correctly - that global warming has occured regularly in the past with periods of warming and cooling. They do however ignore one thing: the global warming that is now occuring is happening at an alarming and unprecedented rate, and all statistics show that the global warming is rising side by side with rising carbon dioxide emissions.

Why do most conservatives acknowledge that global warming is a natural process that has occured for billions of years, but yet most ignore the very different type of global warming we have today?

Why do smart people think Global Warming is measured by average temperature, not the weather?

June 22nd, 2012 | Posted in Reference & Education   Comments Off
asked:

Every year, average temperatures rise because every year more and more CO2 is released. Like this year, sun activity is way down and the temperature continues to rise and have never gone backwards. So how can the sun even be remotely linked to Global Warming?

Average global temperature will go up this year. You can set your clock to it. Lets wake up before its too late!

The ring of fire’s ‘hotspot’ has shifted. There has been a drastic increase in tectonic movement in the 20th century. Could this be adding to global warming?
